Google has dominated the UK online mapping arena for some time. Apple replaced the Google Maps app on their mobile devices with their own offering a few years ago with considerable bad press with missing places, towns in the wrong places, coast lines in the wrong place, etc. Since then they have improved considerably and offered businesses the opportunity to list their businesses on the maps, but only in the USA.
Promote your business through Apple Maps
As of this week Apple have opened up to the UK market. Many businesses are already listed as it appears they have imported many from another provider but you can improve your listing by taking ownership and verifying your data.
Visit https://mapsconnect.apple.com/ for more details, then setup an Apple account (for free), search for your business and if it already exists then take ownership. If it does not exist then you have the opportunity to add your business details.
Next step is to verify ownership. This is normally via an automated phone call to the business number which will provide you with a pin number which is then entered on-screen.
In my case another verification call was made the following day. Again an automated call asking for address verification. It seems odd to receive this and I assume it was genuine!
